Reliance's Mukesh Ambani has made a historic entry into the telecom market recently making announcement for unlimited calls and 4G data at only Rs.50 per 1 Gb. When everyone was so happy to hear this news, state owned BSNL has come up with new broadband plans.

BSNL today said it will soon launch a promotional unlimited wireline broadband plan that effectively translates into less than Re 1 per GB download cost for subscribers if they use up to 300GB data in a month.

Attempting to take Reliance Jio's 4G offer of Rs 50 per GB head-on, BSNL is looking to hook new customers to its wireline broadband offering.

BSNL's Chairman and Managing Director has today said in a press state that "Under this plan, customers can download unlimited Broadband data without bothering about any data limit in GB. BSNL shall offer 2 Mbps speed under this plan."

He also said that if customer uses the plan continuously in a month they can download up to 300GB data by paying just Rs.249 only.

"Hence, 1 GB of data download will effective cost comes out as less than Re 1 per GB. After six months, customer will be migrated to one of the regular broadband plan based on the choice of the customer," BSNL said.

Shrivastava added that BSNL is the only operator offering lowest per GB data download cost plan under broadband services in the country.

This is the first counter step to Reliance JIOs data storm. Lets see how other operators will react to this. Ultimately our people are going to get data at very very less prices in future,
