Special panels for hassle-free postal services, says PMG

Special monitoring committees have been constituted in the Post Master-General office at Kurnool for promptly monitoring and ensuring hassle-free functioning of various wings in the department, PMG of Kurnool region Sanjiv Ranjan said on Wednesday.
 
The teams would monitor a plethora of aspects such as speed post and mail delivery through head post offices, mail movement and sorting at Railway Mail Service (RMS) offices, core banking solutions transactions, McCamish system for post life insurance and rural postal life insurance, hardware and software at post offices and RMS offices.
Philately cell
Monitoring of the philately cell, disbursal of online payments under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme using biometric data and matching of job cards, complaint cases and augmentation of infrastructure such as buildings and furniture would also be monitored by the committees for the benefit of the people, Mr. Sanjiv Ranjan said.
 
A sum of Rs. 50 lakh was sanctioned for maintenance of post office buildings, civil and electrical works, the Post Master-General said. The post office at Siddhavatam in Kadapa district would be renovated, he added.
 
All the RMS offices would be upgraded by augmenting infrastructure, providing computers and peripherals and giving a facelift to buildings.
 
Priority would be accorded to upkeep of post offices, efficient service and cleanliness. Speed post delivery has been improved to 93 per cent.
 
Settlement of claims and disbursal of payments under postal life insurance and rural postal life insurance were done online and were up to date, Mr. Sanjiv Ranjan said. The PMG exhorted postal officials and staff to ensure that every addresser mentioned their mobile numbers on registered post letters.
