Biometric Method to Give Pension

VIJAYAWADA: Stressing on the need to use biometric method for pension disbursal, district collector M Raghunandhana Rao said that the postal department should disburse social security pensions in a transparent manner.

Speaking at a workshop organised by the postal department on ‘direct benefit transfer’ at sub-collector office in the city on Monday, he opined that biometric method would help to avoid illegal deduction of money by the officials, while distributing pension amount to the public. We are planning to appoint one official to supervise distribution of pension in villages under the rural development department, he added.

The collector assured that the government officials in the district will help the postal department and they can even make complaints regarding the problems being faced by the postal staff.

Post master general K Sandhya Rani said that the department will distribute welfare pensions in the eleven districts in the state through 7,781 post offices in 462 mandals and 8681 villages. “The postal department has already distributed the daily wages to 6,28,281 members through NREGS scheme in 973 village panchayats in the state,” she added.
