International Money Remittance : The role of India Post


Do you Know?

India received USD 70 billion remittances from abroad during 2012-13. Most of the  remittances were handled by Banks, Money Transfer Operators like Western Union , Money Gram and some mobile telephone operators like Airtel Money. The share of India Post was  negligible.

It is time to wake up!

Now India Post has launched International Money Remittance service on the International  Financial System (IFS) platform of Universal Postal Union (UPU). This needs your support  and cooperation.  
Inform your friends and neighbours immediately.

You can do it!

As a postmaster and a postal employee you have the best access to reach out to the potential customers. You already have a database of our customers who are receiving remittances from abroad. You also know who is in UAE, QatarFranceMalaysiaSri Lanka and other countries. You can do it. Please contact all the potential customers and inform them about payment of Instant Cash through IFS.

Features

v     At present this service allows International Money Transfer from UAE and France to India. However, it is being extended to Ukraine, Laos PDR, MauritiusSri LankaCambodia and many more countries. This service is India Post’s own service and as such we expect that it will be welcomed by post office staff with open arms.
v     The IFS international remittances will be paid through eMO service.
v     Amount upto INR 50,000 can be paid in cash at post office counter.
v     Amount exceeding INR 50,000 to be paid through cheque subject to a maximum limit of USD 2500.
v     Maximum of 30 transactions per person per year
v     In order to make the service more user friendly, the eMO software has been simplified. The key features of the new eMO software are as follows:-
v     Earlier the eMO operator had to key in the following input fields:-
Ø      IFS MO No, Title, First Name, Middle name, Last name of both Sender and Beneficiary
Ø      Now, in the modified software, there no need to enter the Title, First Name, Middle name, Last name of Sender and Beneficiary.
Ø    Now the operator only has to enter the IFS MO number (9 Digits for Instant Cash, UAE and 26 Digits for France)
Ø      The simplified software is available at the following URL:-

You are requested to download the updated software and update the same in all  the eMO post offices
