Western Union floats scheme for postal service customers in Bihar

PATNA: Western Union Financial Services(WUFS) on Wednesday floated a special scheme of awards for customers of postal services in the state. The scheme is aimed at increasing the number of transactions through its international money transfer mechanism that has been put into place to facilitate inward remittance of money by the NRIs to the members of their families and other beneficiaries.

The department of posts also flagged off a 'rath' from General Post Office (GPO) campus for the publicity of the scheme. The scheme will be available in the state for two months, coinciding with the Dussehra and Diwali festivals.

The 'rath' was flagged off by chief post master general G Bhuyan.

The specially made publicity 'rath' would go around the state to enlighten people about the agreement between the department of posts and WUFS. It will also inform them about the ways of remitting\receiving the money sent under International Money Transfer Scheme (IMTS).

The department of posts has entered into an agreement with WUFS and MoneyGram International for quick inward remittance of money from NRIs residing in 195 countries the world over. However, no outward remittance of money could be made from India to any of the 195 countries and territories.
