Inclusion of
Castes in OBC List
Inclusion of castes/communities in the Central List of Other
Backward Classes is a continuous process. The Ministry of Social Justice &
Empowerment notifies castes/ communities in the Central List of OBCs for
different States/Union Territories on the basis of advice tendered by the
National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) under Section 9(1) of the NCBC
Act, 1993. Gurjar / Gujjar /Goojar /Gujar caste/community is already listed in
the Central List of OBCs in the 12 States/UTs. Proposals for
inclusion of castes/communities in the Central List of Other Backward Classes,
as and when, received from various States/Organisations/individuals, are
forwarded to the NCBC for appropriate action. The Advice of the NCBC has been
received for inclusion of castes/communities in the Central List of OBCs for
different States/Union Territories. Details are:
